Then before you recruit a lot of new vassals pass all of the policies that benefit you the most so others won’t be able to oppose you. Istiana wants you to support an...My strategy is usually: wait till somebody else declares war on your enermy and peace out. I wanted to get Trade to 300 and *buy* my own kingdom, but I can't do that before the main quest timer expires. You can still make your own kingdom after the "main quest" expires. IMO the main quest is just extra annoyance with no pay off anyways.
